Agile vs Waterfall in Supplier Diversity?

Updated: 2 days ago

‘Agile’ approach and the ‘Waterfall’ approach are methodologies to delivering project management outcomes.

🤝 Both methodologies have their benefits depending on the type project being delivered but one methodology is better suited to supplier diversity in the UK and EMEA?

Agile allows for quick delivery of projects with shorter lifecycles, as each iteration delivers a workable product/outcome.

Waterfall requires the completion of all tasks before any work can be released.

Waterfall is great if you want to build a Trainline. For instance, you need to know in advance where each piece of track is to be laid.

But to guarantee success launching a supplier diversity programme winners take an Agile approach.

Where Supplier Diversity Programme leaders try to line up every possible requirement BEFORE they chose to go live ends in disaster, a loss of time affecting the impact made, and loss of credibility for the professional because outcomes weren’t achieved, milestones missed, and collaborations & partnerships break down.

But if one quarter you deliver an outcome, the next, another, and so on, Execs and peers can see the journey, envisage the path, relate to the achievement, and picture themselves repeating your effort.

As you plan your Supplier Diversity programme think Agile, not Waterfall.
